Let me explain something to you.
There are a lot of misconceptions out there about the U.S. government and who is to blame for problems in this country. I am going to put forth a couple points that often get overlooked.
1. Politicians are rarely subject to the laws they pass, particularly tax laws.
2. The President can sign a bill into law or veto it. That's all.
3. Congress, not the President, writes the Federal Budget and passes it.
4. Congress, not the President, generate legislation in this country.
5. The Supreme Court has to have a case brought before it to rule on whether or not something is unconstitutional. They can't just rule on a law passed yesterday.
6. You need a permit to hold a protest or rally.
7. The Separation of Church and State is not mandated anywhere in the Constitution or the Amendments. It is based off a Supreme Court decision.
8. The US dollar is not backed up by actual gold. The dollar is only worth what we, in good faith, say it is worth.
9. Laws only count when they are enforced.
10. Monopolies exist and are growing thanks to #9.
11. The government does not have your best interests at heart. Their pocket books come first. Reference numbers 9 and 10.
12. The most powerful people in Washington D.C. and the country as a whole are corporate lobbyists.
Just some food for thought. Check back regularly for more Political Overwatch.
