More Reasons why Obama won't lose.

Besides the end of the Birther Movement and the death of Osama bin Laden under his leadership President Obama has another reason to feel a bit safer about his prospects in November:

The U.S. economy "grew at its fastest pace in more than a year and a half in the fourth quarter, signaling that a sturdier recovery took hold despite troubles in other parts of the world," the Wall Street Journal reports.

"Gross domestic product -- the value of all goods and services produced -- grew at an annual rate of 2.8% between October and December... That is up from 1.8% growth in the third quarter and 1.3% in the second quarter."

A Space Race for the 21st Century.

Newt Gingrich declared to the Florida Space Coast that the United States should be colonizing the Moon by 2020 and that once the colony reached 13,000 occupants that the moon should become the 51st state in the Union.  "But wait!" you say, "I thought that the UN said nobody can own the moon and that Space belongs to all mankind."  Well you aren't wrong, and you aren't right either.  For full explanations of both topics look at these two links NEWT on SPACE and Moon Wars.  What I want to talk about is what this means for us.  Does it really matter?  More after the break.

Let me explain something to you.

There are a lot of misconceptions out there about the U.S. government and who is to blame for problems in this country.  I am going to put forth a couple points that often get overlooked.

1. Politicians are rarely subject to the laws they pass, particularly tax laws.
2. The President can sign a bill into law or veto it.  That's all.
3. Congress, not the President, writes the Federal Budget and passes it.
4. Congress, not the President, generate legislation in this country.
5. The Supreme Court has to have a case brought before it to rule on whether or not something is unconstitutional.  They can't just rule on a law passed yesterday.
6. You need a permit to hold a protest or rally.
7. The Separation of Church and State is not mandated anywhere in the Constitution or the Amendments.  It is based off a Supreme Court decision.
8. The US dollar is not backed up by actual gold.  The dollar is only worth what we, in good faith, say it is worth.
9. Laws only count when they are enforced.
10. Monopolies exist and are growing thanks to #9.
11. The government does not have your best interests at heart.  Their pocket books come first.  Reference numbers 9 and 10.
12. The most powerful people in Washington D.C. and the country as a whole are corporate lobbyists.

Just some food for thought.  Check back regularly for more Political Overwatch.
